In the ARIC study, 12.1% had prevalent heart stress, and 12.3% developed incident heart stress over 6 years, both linked to higher risks of all-cause death and heart failure hospitalization.
Persistent heart stress posed the greatest risk, while remission was associated with lower mortality risk, with consistent findings validated in the MESA study.
