- This study assessed sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) safety and efficacy for Japanese cedar pollen-induced allergic rhinitis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients on stable immunosuppressive treatment.
- Six RA patients in remission with moderate-to-severe allergic rhinitis underwent SLIT for one year.
- Symptom scores and quality of life showed a tendency toward improvement despite higher pollen load in the second year, with no RA flares or changes to immunosuppressive therapy.
- Immunologic changes, including JCP-specific IgE and IgG4 levels, were consistent with SLIT exposure.
- The findings suggest SLIT is well-tolerated and may offer clinical and immunologic benefits in selected, stable RA patients.
