- A couple, Alice and Gavin Munro, have spent 20 years perfecting a method to mould trees into chairs.
- The process involves training and pruning branches over plastic molds, grafting them into one solid piece, and takes 6-9 years to grow plus a year to dry.
- Gavin's inspiration came from a bonsai tree as a child and his personal experience with spinal surgeries, which taught him patience.
- They founded Full Grown in Derbyshire in 2006, growing chairs, lamps, stools, benches, and chandeliers from trees like willow, oak, and ash.
- The couple plans to launch Full Grown Academy to share their knowledge and help others grow their own chairs.
- A bronze cast of their chair will be featured at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, with their work also displayed in museums and luxury brand exhibits.
