Denosumab reduces skeletal-related events (SREs) more effectively than bisphosphonates in breast cancer patients with bone metastases.
Denosumab is associated with lower risks of arthralgia, myalgia, bone pain, renal adverse events, non-serious events, and pyrexia compared to bisphosphonates.
Other outcomes, including osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ), serious and grade ≥3 events, and most infectious, gastrointestinal, and respiratory events, are similar between denosumab and bisphosphonates.
Denosumab may be preferable for patients at higher risk of renal toxicity or skeletal complications, but treatment decisions should be individualized based on cost, health, and preferences.
