- Lockdown Mode is an optional advanced security setting for OpenAI products that restricts outbound network requests to reduce data exfiltration risks from prompt injection attacks.
- Available for all account types and workspaces, it disables or limits features like live web browsing, image support in regular responses, deep research, agent mode, canvas networking, and file downloads.
- Apps and connectors are limited: personal accounts can use synced data connectors but not live access or writes; managed workspaces rely on admin-configured roles and trusted apps.
- Users can enable Lockdown Mode in Settings > Security for eligible accounts or via custom roles in managed workspaces, with options to disable it for individual chats.
- Lockdown Mode does not affect model training, Codex network access, or Compliance API logs, and it does not guarantee complete protection against all prompt injection effects.
