- Resistance training of 90-119 minutes per week is linked to a 13% lower all-cause mortality risk, 19% lower cardiovascular mortality, and 27% lower neurological disease mortality, compared to no resistance training.
- No additional mortality reduction was observed above 120 minutes per week of resistance training.
- Reduced cancer mortality risk was only seen at lower resistance training levels (1-59 minutes per week).
- Combining resistance training with high aerobic activity (e.g., 30 to <45 MET-hours/week) resulted in the lowest mortality risk (HR 0.55).
- At very high aerobic activity levels (≥45 MET-hours/week), mortality risk was low regardless of resistance training involvement (HRs 0.53 to 0.58).
