- The MAPH score, based on mean platelet volume (MPV), age, total protein, and hematocrit (HCT), significantly improved stroke prediction in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) patients compared to the CHA₂DS₂-VASc score.
- In a retrospective study of 474 patients, the MAPH score had a higher AUC (0.706) than CHA₂DS₂-VASc (0.595) and CHA₂DS₂-VASc-M (0.667) for predicting ischemic stroke, with particularly better performance in low-risk patients (CHA₂DS₂-VASc ≤1).
- Multivariate analysis identified MAPH, CHA₂DS₂-VASc-M, MPV, total protein, and HCT as independent predictors of ischemic stroke, suggesting MAPH could enhance anticoagulation therapy decisions when added to standard risk assessments.
