- GZR18 is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist being developed for type 2 diabetes.
- A phase 1b/2a trial in Chinese T2DM patients tested once-weekly GZR18 in two dose-titration regimens (Part A: 0.5-4 mg over 26 weeks; Part B: 1.5-13 mg over 23 weeks).
- 72 participants were enrolled, with 62 completing the trial.
- GZR18 significantly reduced HbA1c levels (Part A: -1.32% vs. placebo +0.86%; Part B: -1.81% vs. placebo +0.12%).
- Improvements in body weight and other metabolic parameters were observed.
- GZR18 was safe and well-tolerated, with mostly mild-to-moderate gastrointestinal adverse events and no severe hypoglycemia or treatment-related serious adverse events.
- The findings support further development of GZR18 in larger, long-term trials.
