  • Study analyzed 244,760 UK Biobank participants to compare risks across SLD subtypes: MASLD (19.6%), MetALD (9.4%), and ALD (3.3%).
  • Over median 13.5 years, incidence rates per 1,000 person-years were highest for ALD across all outcomes: MALO (5.80), MACE (19.36), and all-cause mortality (20.93).
  • Adjusted hazard ratios showed ALD had significantly higher MALO risk vs. MASLD (HR 2.95) and higher risks of MACE and mortality compared to both MetALD and MASLD.
  • MetALD had higher MALO risk than MASLD (HR 1.23) but similar risks for MACE and all-cause mortality, with no significant differences between MetALD and MASLD for cardiovascular or survival outcomes.
  • Conclusions indicate ALD presents the greatest liver, cardiovascular, and mortality risks, while MASLD and MetALD share similar cardiovascular and survival profiles but differ in liver-related outcomes.
