- Alcohol use disorder (AUD) in BD is linked to worse depression outcomes and increased suicidality.
- Other SUDs (cocaine, tobacco, opioids, methamphetamine) show links to increased suicidality, hospitalizations, and medication nonadherence.
- Research gaps exist for non-alcohol and non-cannabis SUDs, highlighting the need for more rigorous studies.
