- Higher serum uric acid (SUA) levels are associated with a reduced risk of osteoporosis (OP).
- Individuals in the third and fourth quartiles of SUA levels had 38% and 49% lower OP risk, respectively, compared to the lowest quartile.
- An L-shaped inverse association was found with a turning point around 5.3 mg/dL of SUA.
- Gender, race, diabetes status, and serum cholesterol levels modify the negative association between SUA and OP.
- Mendelian randomization analysis supported a causal protective effect of SUA levels on OP.
