- A Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) using Machine Learning (ML) was developed for etiological diagnosis of Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis (SAR) in the @IT-2020 project.
- The CDSS used three progressive diagnostic modules: clinical history and Skin Prick Tests (SPT), plus molecular specific IgE tests, plus an electronic diary.
- Three ML models achieved high performance (AUROC >95%), validated in Rome and Tirana, showing adaptability, interpretability, and generalizability.
- The models outperformed 24 doctors in a competition and reproduced AIT prescriptions, demonstrating potential for personalized treatment in SAR.
