Study analyzed SEER data (2000-2019) for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and adenocarcinoma (AC).
5,276 SCC and 5,222 AC patients included; AC patients were younger with more advanced tumors.
Median overall survival (OS) for SCC was 203 months vs. 56 months for AC.
Key predictors for SCC survival: stage, primary site, and treatment.
Key predictors for AC survival: stage and treatment.
Combined surgery and radiation improved survival for both SCC and AC compared to radiation alone.
