- Epigenetic silencing of TBX1 via promoter hypermethylation is linked to nonresponse to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
- TBX1 suppresses ESCC cell proliferation, induces apoptosis, and increases cisplatin sensitivity by activating the Hippo pathway through upregulation of MST1/LATS1 and inhibition of F-actin polymerization.
- Restoration of TBX1 expression enhances chemosensitivity and reduces tumor growth in vivo, suggesting TBX1 promoter hypermethylation as a potential predictive biomarker and therapeutic target to overcome chemoresistance in ESCC.
