- Development of the Medical Student Adaptation Questionnaire (MSAQ) to assess adaptation among first-year medical students in Vietnam.
- Identification and validation of four latent factors: emotional distress and stress adaptation, self-regulated learning and academic adaptation, peer integration and social belonging, and institutional and academic support environment.
- The MSAQ demonstrated good reliability with excellent test–retest stability (ICC = 0.93) and acceptable construct validity through factor analyses.
- All four factors were significantly associated with college adjustment scores, with emotional distress and stress adaptation showing the strongest effect.
- Female students and those living away from family reported lower adaptation levels, highlighting demographic influences.
