  • Long-term cognitive impairment occurs in post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) patients and ICU survivors, regardless of acute disease severity.
  • Overall cognition was similar between mild COVID-19 patients and ICU groups (COVID-19 and non-COVID-19).
  • Mild COVID-19 patients reported higher cognitive fatigue, lower memory satisfaction, higher anxiety (59%) and depression (38%), and reduced mental health-related quality of life compared to ICU groups.
  • The study compared PCC patients after mild COVID-19, ICU-treated COVID-19 patients, and non-COVID-19 ICU patients, all assessed ≥12 weeks post-onset.
  • It highlights that mild COVID-19 can lead to greater long-term psychological distress despite comparable cognitive performance with ICU survivors.
