- Calcinosis cutis (CaC) is a frequent and disabling non-lethal manifestation in systemic sclerosis (SSc).
- Baseline prevalence of CaC in SSc patients was 11.9%, and among those without CaC initially, 40% developed it within 5 years and 46% within 10 years.
- Patients with CaC were more often female, had longer disease duration, higher skin scores, telangiectasia, digital ischemia, late capillaroscopy patterns, joint issues, gastrointestinal involvement, PAH, and specific antibody positivity.
- Key predictors for CaC development at 5 years included longer disease duration, cardiac involvement, late capillaroscopy pattern, telangiectasia, digital ulcers, and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
- Predictors at 10 years included longer disease duration, diffuse cutaneous SSc, female gender, telangiectasia, and digital ulcers.
