Secuso – Our Farewell from Google Play

The project started in 2016 to offer privacy-friendly alternatives to apps demanding unnecessary permissions.
The Privacy Friendly Apps collection grew to over 30 apps with more than 350,000 installs.
Maintaining apps on Google Play became unsustainable for the research group, leading to their departure in 2025.
Existing installations will remain unaffected, but updates will no longer be provided via Google Play.
Users are encouraged to switch to F-Droid for continued updates and support.
Migration instructions are provided to help users transition smoothly while retaining their data.
