Qantas plane flies for more than 24 hours in record-breaking flight

- Qantas completed a record 24-hour, 24-minute commercial flight from Melbourne to Toulouse using a specially adapted A350-1000ULR jet.
- The flight is part of Qantas' Project Sunrise, aiming for non-stop routes from Australia to London and New York by 2027.
- The test flight covered 23,075 km over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, surpassing the previous record of 22 hours and 42 minutes set in 2005.
- The A350-1000ULR features an extra fuel tank and carried 20,000 liters of fuel; it was the second-most-tracked flight on Flightradar24 with over 3.6 million followers.
- Qantas has ordered 12 such aircraft, with first delivery in April 2027, targeting daily Sydney-London non-stop flights by October 2027.
