- A small-molecule compound, HIF-1α-targeting autophagy-tethering compound (HATC), was developed to extend this protective mechanism to other tissues.
- Weekly systemic HATC administration in aged mice reduced HIF-1α levels, ameliorated age-related pathologies, and extended median (~14%) and maximum (~12%) lifespan.
