  • Transcranial ultrasound stimulation (TUS) is an emerging non-invasive method for modulating deep brain structures.
  • A randomized controlled cross-over study tested pallidal TUS pulsed at 130 Hz on subthalamic beta-band activity in four male Parkinson's Disease (PD) participants.
  • Beta-band power in the ipsilateral subthalamic nucleus (STN) reduced by 10.34%, showing statistically significant suppression of pathological oscillations.
  • Reduction in beta power correlated between the ipsilateral STN and primary motor cortex, but not the contralateral STN.
