  • Telefónica Audiovisual Digital obtained a new court ruling on March 23 allowing them to implement dynamic blocking of IP addresses, domains, and URLs involved in unauthorized distribution of sports and entertainment content.
  • The blocking system, initially targeting LaLiga football matches since February 2025, will now extend to other sports events like Champions League matches, tennis tournaments, and golf, as well as movies and series, starting April 14.
  • Unlike previous LaLiga blockades affecting only major ISPs, the new authorization applies to all national, regional, and local internet operators, including small and medium-sized providers, who will receive blocking lists from Telefónica.
  • IP address blocks can impact legitimate websites hosted on shared IPs, such as those using CDN services like Cloudflare, causing collateral accessibility issues during live event broadcasts.
