- Howdy provides Windows Hello™ style authentication for Linux using facial recognition.
- Works with the central authentication system (PAM) for login, lock screen, sudo, su, etc.
- Available for Debian/Ubuntu, Arch Linux, Fedora, and openSUSE.
- Installation involves adding a repository and running commands specific to each distro.
- Howdy requires Python 3.6 or higher and other dependencies for building from source.
- After installation, run `sudo howdy add` to train Howdy with your face.
- Howdy offers commands like `add`, `clear`, `config`, `disable`, `list`, `remove`, `snapshot`, `test`, and `version`.
- Howdy is not as secure as a password and should not be the sole authentication method.
- Contributions are welcome, including starring the repository, opening issues, or buying the maintainer a coffee.
