ACP Agent Registry in JetBrains IDEs

JetBrains and Zed launched the ACP Agent Registry, a directory of AI coding agents integrated into JetBrains IDEs and Zed.
The Agent Client Protocol (ACP) is an open standard allowing any AI coding agent to work in any supporting editor, similar to the Language Server Protocol (LSP).
The registry simplifies discovering, installing, and switching between AI coding agents with a single click, eliminating manual configuration.
Available agents include Auggie CLI, Factory Droid, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Mistral Vibe, OpenCode, and Qwen Code, each with unique strengths.
Developers can experiment with multiple agents to find the best fit for their workflow without vendor lock-in.
To use the registry, open Settings in JetBrains IDE (2025.3.2+), navigate to AI Assistant | Agents, and install desired agents.
Agent builders can list their ACP-compatible agents in the registry by following the submission process in the ACP Registry repository.
The registry promotes an open ecosystem, enabling competition based on agent quality rather than integration exclusivity.
