- Early mepolizumab initiation within 30 days of glucocorticoid start in newly diagnosed EGPA patients was associated with significantly lower cumulative oral prednisolone exposure over 12 months compared to delayed/no initiation.
- The study, a single-center retrospective cohort of 30 patients, found the mepolizumab-by-day-30 group had a cumulative dose of 24.7 mg/kg versus 68.6 mg/kg in the no-mepolizumab group from day 30 to 12 months.
- Remission, measured by Birmingham Vasculitis Activity Score, was achieved by 3 months in both groups; differences primarily reflected the ability to taper prednisolone to ≤7.5 mg/day.
