- Greater CIMT was associated with a 10% increased risk of POAG, particularly in women and those with high genetic predisposition.
- Higher CIMT correlated with increased intraocular pressure (IOP) and decreased macular retinal nerve fiber layer (mRNFL) thickness.
- CIMT was also linked to retinal vascular impairments, including reduced fractal dimension and increased vessel tortuosity.
- Findings suggest CIMT may serve as a biomarker for POAG and indicate potential vascular mechanisms in disease progression.
