- The world's first underwater roundabout is part of the Eysturoyartunnil subsea tunnel network in the Faroe Islands, opened in December 2020.
- The roundabout, 72 meters below the surface, features an illuminated central pillar decorated by Faroese artist Tróndur Patursson and an 80-meter steel sculpture symbolizing unity.
- The 11.2 km tunnel reduces travel time between Torshavn and Eysturoy from over an hour to 15 minutes and cuts distances between bay areas significantly.
- It is the second-longest car traffic subsea tunnel globally, with a toll fee of 75 DKK each way, and includes an advanced water drainage system.
- The Faroe Islands have 20 tunnels, including three subsea ones, with more planned, like the future 22-24 km tunnel from Suðuroy to Sandoy, set to be the world's longest.
