  • The study evaluated long-term outcomes of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) with S-1 versus radiotherapy (RT) alone in older patients (aged 70–85 years) with esophageal cancer.
  • CCRT with S-1 showed significantly improved overall survival (median OS 24.7 months vs. 15.1 months) and progression-free survival (median PFS 18.7 months vs. 9.2 months) compared to RT alone.
  • No increased noncancer-related mortality was observed with CCRT, supporting its use as a preferred regimen for this elderly patient population.
