- iOS 27 introduces a new on-device recovery mode for iPhone and iPad, similar to recovery mode on Apple silicon Macs.
- To access it, power off the device, hold the side button, and keep holding after the Apple logo appears to see a progress bar and enter the recovery environment.
- The recovery screen offers five options: Recovery Assistant, Software Update, Diagnostics Mode, Erase All Content and Settings, and Recovery Mode, along with battery percentage and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- This feature allows some repairs, like reinstalling an OS after a failed update or boot loop, without needing a computer, using the on-device Software Update or Recovery Assistant.
- iOS 27 is currently in developer beta, with a public beta expected soon and an official release in the fall.
