- A randomized trial compared endovascular therapy (stent placement plus enhanced antithrombotic therapy) plus standard care versus standard care alone in 225 patients with moderate/severe post-thrombotic syndrome and iliac-vein obstruction.
- At 6 months, the endovascular-therapy group had significantly lower post-thrombotic syndrome severity (mean VCSS 8.1 vs. 10.0) and better venous disease-specific and overall quality of life compared to the no-endovascular-therapy group.
- Bleeding was more common in the endovascular-therapy group (11.6% vs. 3.6%), indicating a trade-off between efficacy and safety.
