Apple unveiled the M5 Pro and M5 Max as part of the MacBook Pro update.
The M5 chips represent a significant departure from past generations in CPU architecture and packaging.
The M5 Pro and M5 Max use an 'all-new Fusion Architecture' combining two silicon chiplets into one processor.
One chiplet handles the CPU and most I/O, while the second focuses on graphics, both using TSMC's 3nm process.
The first silicon die is consistent across M5 Pro and M5 Max, featuring an 18-core CPU, 16-core Neural Engine, and SSD/Thunderbolt controllers.
