  • Repeated ultrasound-guided suprascapular nerve blocks (SSNB) effectively reduce hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP) and improve range of motion (ROM).
  • The study was a double-blind, randomized controlled trial with 42 HSP patients, comparing SSNB (levobupivacaine and triamcinolone) to sham injections.
  • Significant pain reduction (measured by visual analog scale) and ROM improvement (abduction and flexion) were observed in the SSNB group at 1, 4, and 7 weeks.
  • No significant differences were found in spasticity (Ashworth scale) or motor function (Brunnstrom scale) between groups.
  • Combining SSNB with physiotherapy is beneficial for HSP, but further research is needed to assess long-term effects and compare with other treatments.
