  • Kent House station, opened in 1884, is located on the railway line between Victoria and Bromley South, near Penge East and Beckenham Junction, and was originally named due to its proximity to the historic Surrey/Kent boundary.
  • The historic Surrey/Kent boundary ran just 30 meters from the station, with Penge on the Surrey side and Beckenham on the Kent side until administrative changes in 1889, 1900, and 1965 shifted boundaries, making Kent House an anachronism as it is no longer in Kent.
  • The actual Kent House, first recorded in 1240, was a historic house and later farm located about half a mile north of the station, but it no longer exists, having been replaced by modern housing in the 1970s, with the site now closer to New Beckenham station.
  • A cafe at the station, previously Kent House Coffee and Flowers, is being replaced by a new establishment called At Kent House, reflecting ongoing changes in the area's amenities.
  • Despite its name, the station's naming is tied to the historical Kent House and the county boundary, highlighting how station names can persist even after the original landmarks and administrative realities have changed.
