22-year-old Mozart's handwritten notebook unearthed in 'major discovery'

A 248-year-old notebook in France's National Library identified as belonging to a 22-year-old Mozart, dated May-July 1778.
The notebook, 44 pages, includes exercises Mozart prescribed for his harp student, Marie-Louise-Philippine de Bonnieres de Guines, and seven flute and harp pieces.
It was discovered by curator Francois-Pierre Goy, authenticated in April 2026, and features handwriting and stamps matching Mozart's other works.
The notebook was confiscated from the Duke of Guines during the French Revolution in 1794.
Mozart's relationship with the Duke was strained due to non-payment for commissioned works, including the Concerto for Flute and Harp.
