- Apple M1/M2/M3 core support may soon be merged into the GCC compiler.
- GCC developer Iain Sandoe, with input from Arm and Apple engineers, is working on this support.
- A new patch for GCC on AArch64 Darwin (macOS) adds targets for apple-m1, apple-m2, apple-m3, and apple-a12.
- The patch could be merged in GCC 15.1 or deferred to GCC 16, providing optimized Apple Silicon support as an alternative to LLVM.
