We discovered a new variant of Super Mario Bros
11 hours ago
- A collector discovered 97 pristine, previously undocumented variants of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt in a box from a retro shop, originally meant for gold recovery.
- The box originated from Japan, was sent to Nintendo of America in 1995, and ended up at a precious metal recovery center in Wisconsin, where it sat for decades.
- After inspection by grading companies, the cartridges were authenticated as a new variant with unique back labels, multilingual text, and manufacturing codes from late 1993.
- Five cartridges achieved a PSA 10 grade, a first for NES games, and the collection will be partially auctioned, with some kept and others used for charity.
