Tesla sedan hit by train after self-driving error in Berks County, stops train

A Tesla in self-driving mode made a left turn at a railroad crossing in Sinking Spring, PA.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on South Hull Street.
The Tesla traveled 40-50 feet down the tracks before occupants exited safely.
A train hit the Tesla a few minutes later, damaging a mirror but causing no injuries.
Three people were in the car at the time of the incident.
The Tesla was lifted by a crane to avoid battery damage from rolling it onto a flatbed.
This is the first reported incident involving a Tesla in self-drive mode for the fire department.
