- Denosumab (DEN) and teriparatide (TPTD) were compared for real-world effectiveness in severe osteoporosis over 24 months.
- TPTD significantly reduced vertebral fractures (VFs) compared to DEN (12/198 vs. 22/159), with an odds ratio of 0.39 after correction for vertebroplasty.
- No significant difference was found between DEN and TPTD in preventing non-vertebral fractures (NVFs).
- New VFs were associated with vertebroplasty procedure (odds ratio 2.409) and occurred less frequently with TPTD.
- The study concludes TPTD might be more effective than DEN in preventing vertebral fractures in severe osteoporosis.
