- The systematic review and meta-analysis compared stabilization exercise (SE) programs with conventional physical therapy (PT) for improving balance in adults with non-specific chronic lumbopelvic pain (NSCLPP).
- Fourteen randomized controlled trials involving 466 participants were included, with seven studies used in a meta-analysis on dynamic balance.
- Results showed a moderate effect size favoring SE for dynamic balance based on the Y balance test (SMD = 0.71), but the evidence certainty was low due to risk of bias and imprecision from small sample sizes.
- SE was found to be more effective than conventional PT in engaging core muscles during functional activities, improving both static and dynamic balance, and reducing pain and functional disability in people with NSCLPP.
