Notepad++ Code Editor Comes to Mac After 20-Year Wait

Notepad++ is now available as a native macOS app, ported from the Windows version by the open-source community.
It runs as a universal binary, compatible with both Apple silicon and Intel Macs, eliminating the need for compatibility layers like Wine or CrossOver.
The macOS version retains core features such as the Scintilla engine, tabbed editing, syntax highlighting for over 80 languages, search and replace, macro recording, and plugin support, but uses native macOS Cocoa APIs for UI elements like menus and keyboard shortcuts.
The port is maintained by Andrey Letov and is free, released under the GNU General Public License with no ads or hidden costs.
