  • Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) adoption in SMTP STARTTLS is still very low as of January 2026.
  • Only 0.26% of mail servers (965 out of 367,190) support PQC for SMTP STARTTLS.
  • These 965 mail servers cover about 14% (~138K) of the top one million domains.
  • Only three major email providers have enabled PQC for SMTP STARTTLS so far.
  • Other major email providers like GoDaddy, Microsoft, and Google have not yet adopted PQC for SMTP.
  • Users are encouraged to ask their email service providers to enable hybrid key exchange in STARTTLS.
