- The US Commerce Department has banned imports of new Polestar vehicles from model year 2027 onwards due to regulations on connected cars with Chinese ties.
- Polestar will continue selling its existing inventory of Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUVs in the US and support current customers, but future models like the Polestar 5 sedan and Polestar 6 roadster will not be available.
- Polestar's corporate parent is Chinese-owned Zhejiang Geely Holding, which also owns brands like Volvo, Lynk and Co, and Zeekr. Notably, Volvo was recently authorized for MY27 imports.
- Despite protectionist measures in the US, the Polestar 3 is manufactured in South Carolina, and Polestar 4s for the US market are built in South Korea, though most of Polestar's production is based in China.
- Polestar's CEO announced a strategic shift focusing on Europe as its primary growth market, with plans to manufacture the Polestar 7 there, and will invest in regions like Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Canada.
