Sotatercept as add-on therapy to standard-of-care significantly reduced all-cause mortality risk by 49% in a real-world cohort of idiopathic PAH patients.
Add-on sotatercept was linked to a lower risk of all-cause hospitalizations, with a 12-month rate of 6.3% vs 11.5% in the control group.
Safety analysis showed increased odds of epistaxis (2.68-fold), erythrocytosis (4.26-fold), and a potential higher risk of hypertension with sotatercept, though thrombocytopenia rates were similar.
Despite increased risks of side effects, the survival and hospitalization benefits were deemed to outweigh these risks, supporting sotatercept's use in routine clinical practice.
