Google just gave Android power users a sideloading win

Google is implementing new measures to make sideloading apps from unverified developers more difficult, including a mandatory 24-hour delay.
Users can opt out of future delays after the initial 24-hour period, and this status can be transferred to new devices, so the process only needs to be done once.
Advanced users can use ADB commands to install apps immediately without the delay, and the changes aim to reduce malware risks while minimizing long-term impact on power users.
The new sideloading rules will start rolling out for Android users in August 2026, with Google providing clarifications to address community concerns.
