Google says Linux Terminal VM feature isn't replacement for Android desktop mode

Google introduced a Linux Terminal app in the latest Pixel Drop update, allowing users to run Debian in a virtual machine.
The main purpose of the Linux Terminal app is to bring more Linux apps, tools, and games to Android, not to introduce another desktop environment.
Google aims to avoid confusion by not presenting multiple desktop mode options, as Android will soon feature a better desktop-class windowing system.
The Terminal app currently provides a text-based command line interface, but users can install desktop environments like XFCE or GNOME manually.
Google plans to add GPU acceleration support in the next release of the Terminal app.
Google does not plan to restrict the installation of Linux desktop environments, leaving the possibility open for OEMs to include them by default.
