- Britain set new solar energy records two days in a row, with generation reaching 14.1GW on Monday and 14.4GW on Tuesday afternoon.
- The government approved the UK's largest solar farm in Lincolnshire, Springwell, expected to power about 180,000 homes at peak capacity.
- This approval is part of 25 large-scale clean energy projects approved by Labour since 2024, collectively capable of powering up to 12.5 million homes.
- Recent wind power also hit a record high of 23.9GW, reducing gas-fired power to 2.3%, testing plans for a near carbon-free grid by 2030.
- The government is promoting solar energy for energy independence and lower bills, with plans for 'plug-in solar' and mandatory solar panels on new homes from 2028.
