  • Nicardipine treatment reduced weight loss, DAI scores, and histological damage in DSS-induced colitis.
  • It suppressed NF-κB mRNA expression and reduced levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α) and COX-2.
  • Nicardipine also decreased oxidative stress markers (MPO, 8-OHdG) and restored claudin-1 expression, enhancing SOD activity.
  • The protective role of nicardipine in colitis is attributed to its regulation of inflammation and oxidative stress pathways.
