Mistral AI announces Magistral, its first reasoning model, designed for domain-specific, transparent, and multilingual reasoning.
Magistral comes in two variants: Magistral Small (24B parameter open-source) and Magistral Medium (enterprise version).
Magistral Medium scored 73.6% on AIME2024, and 90% with majority voting @64; Magistral Small scored 70.7% and 83.3% respectively.
The model excels in multilingual reasoning, supporting languages like English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Russian, and Simplified Chinese.
Magistral offers 10x faster reasoning with Flash Answers in Le Chat compared to competitors.
The model is suited for enterprise use cases, including legal research, financial forecasting, software development, and creative storytelling.
Magistral provides traceable reasoning, making it ideal for regulated industries like legal, finance, healthcare, and government.
Magistral Small is available for self-deployment under the Apache 2.0 license on Hugging Face.
Magistral Medium is available in preview on Le Chat, via API on La Plateforme, and on Amazon SageMaker, IBM WatsonX, with plans for Azure AI and Google Cloud Marketplace.
