Use cases include sandbox tailnets for testing, lab tailnets for R&D, and separate tailnets for development, staging, and production environments.
Tailscale offers an API for programmatically creating tailnets, useful for automation, OEM, and integration scenarios.
API-generated tailnets are lightweight, managed exclusively via API, and ideal for embedding Tailscale into products.
Access to multiple tailnets and the tailnet creation API is available through an alpha program.
Future features include assigning users to tailnets based on groups, self-serve tailnet creation, and organization-level controls.
