Ubuntu servers taken offline by "sustained, cross-border attack"

Ubuntu and Canonical servers have been offline due to an ongoing DDoS attack, causing website and update disruptions.
A pro-Iran group claimed responsibility, using the Beam stressor service to target infrastructure, also recently attacking eBay.
Canonical acknowledged the 'sustained, cross-border attack' on its status page, but communication has been limited otherwise.
While direct Ubuntu updates are affected, mirror sites remain functional for downloading OS updates.
